November 2, 2011 "Live Performances & New Releases"
<Listen To Preview>
This week’s program features live performances and some of the best new cd releases. The program begins with a July 11, 2009 performance at the Barrios in Brussels festival by the duo of Eliot Fisk and Jerome Moufee. The festival was organized by Agustin Barrios Mangore scholar Federico Sheppard, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Agustin Barrios Mangore’s highly successful performance at the Royal Conservatory in Brussells. In attendance at that historic concert were composer Igor Stravinsky, members of the Royal Belgian family, and professors at the conservatory.
The program continues with a 2007 performance of Rodrigo’s Fantasia para un Gentilhombre at the Round Top Guitar Festival at the Round Top Festival Institute by Eduardo Isaac and the Round Top Philharmonia, conducted by Marcelo Bussiki.
18-year-old Japanese bandoneon virtuoso Kazumi Miura performs Piazzolla’s "Tanti Anni Prima" with guitarist Yasuji Ohagi.
The program concludes with Viva Trio (Renata Green, flute; Jennifer Bernard, oboe; Tony Morris, guitar) performing a traditional Irish tune, "Campbell’s Farewell", from their 2010 Vino y Virtuosos fundraiser concert benefiting the Hospice Austin charity nonprofit.
