<Listen to Preview>

This week’s program features interviews with American composer Dana Wilson and Slovak-Australian composer Marian Budos.

The program begins with the Athens Guitar Trio (from Athens, Georgia, USA) performing their arrangement of Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto”, Concerto Grosso, op. 6, #8.

In an interview recorded in 2009, American composer Dana Wilson describes his piece “Sing to Me of the Night” for flute, guitar, and cello.

The young Belgian virtuoso Jerome Mouffe performs Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s “Capriccio Diabolico”, which was commissioned by Andres Segovia, and based on the music of Paganini.

In an interview recorded in 2009, the Slovak-Australian composer Marian Budos discusses his Concerto for two guitars, subtitled “Heart on a Sleeve”, which was written as a musical reflection of his parents’ divorce. The cd which contains the “Heart on a Sleeve” concerto also has 2 other concertos for solo guitar and orchestra. Marian Budos’s music from the cd has been frequently used for films and television, and the success of the cd earned him a new film score commission.

The program concludes with Jerome Mouffe’s solo guitar arrangement of Paganini’s Caprice #17, from his debut cd on VGo Recordings.
