January 16, 2007 "Performer-Composers/Mark Anthony Cruz Interview"
<Listen Online Now>
This week's edition of Classical Guitar Alive! features music by performer-composers and an
interview with Texas-based composer-guitarist Mark Anthony Cruz, who discusses music from his
CD "Pequenas Piezas para mi Padre."
The program begins with selections from Cruz's "Peguenas Piezas". Edoardo Catemario performs
Mauro Giuliani's (1781-1829) "Guitar Concerto No. 1 in A, op. 30," on a period instrument dating
from 1825. The program concludes with a rare early recording by a very young Assad Duo of
Radames Gnattali's "Concerto for Two Guitars, Oboe, and Strings."
Special thanks to Mr. Tony Muller for the Giuliani recording. Special thanks also to Mr. Byron Fogo
for the Gnattali recording.
